The North Carolina Tar Heels are one of the more exciting teams entering the 2025 college football as they have added coach Bill Belichick to lead the program. With that, the team has some added expectations after finishing 6-6 last year before losing their bowl game.
As he prepares for his college football debut against the TCU Horned Frogs on Sept. 1, it appears one college football analyst feels bullish about the North Carolina Tar Heels this season. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and why he feels that way.
Joel Klatt Believes in the 2025 North Carolina Tar Heels

During his most recent episode of The Joel Klatt Show, the CFB analyst discussed why he would be buying stock on the North Carolina Tar Heels heading into the 2025 season.
“I don’t think Bill Belichick cares what all the noise is this offseason, I really don’t. What people are talking about, who they are talking about. I think he cares about getting the roster – the team, the players – believe they can just go out there and do their job. And if you do that, in that conference, against that schedule, I don’t think anyone is running away from them. So there’s a good chance this is a team that’s going to be in a lot of games that they play.”
One reason he likes the North Carolina Tar Heels this season is that they have just one difficult game on their schedule.
“The schedule sets up really well. They’re in the ACC, so it’s not like they’re going to be playing a ton of games against teams with marginally better talent than them. Maybe Clemson is on the list. That’s their toughest game by far. I think only one top 25 game this year, that’s Clemson. They don’t play SMU, Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, or Florida State… If you lose to Clemson, it’s like ‘Who cares?'”
It will be intriguing to see how the Tar Heels are going to be this upcoming season and if Bill Belichick can be successful at the collegiate level.
