The Miami Hurricanes are one of the college football programs that need a strong final two weeks of the regular season, as they are currently on the fringe of a College Football Playoff berth. With only a few more chances to elevate their status, let’s take a deeper dive into one college football analyst’s opinions about the chances ‘The U’ is competing for the national title.
Kirk Herbstreit Worried About Miami Hurricanes’ CFP Chances

On the most recent episode of his ‘Nonstop‘ podcast, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit discussed how it is going to be difficult to see the Miami Hurricanes getting into the College Football Playoff right now.
“If I were a Miami fan, I’d be concerned. Notre Dame is sitting there at No. 9. They’ve got Syracuse and Stanford. Assuming they win both of those games convincingly – we’re still going to be saying they’re not playing anybody, but they’re going to win 49-10. What could you do if you’re on that committee to say, ‘We got to move Notre Dame back?’ Or what can Miami do to say, ‘We got to get Miami up?’
“If they won the ACC – they get into the ACC championship, that might be another (way). But right now, they’re on the outside looking in there. It’s frustrating, I know. I get it. This is where you wish there was 14 teams or 14 teams. I’ve done about two or three Miami games. I like Miami.”
The Miami Hurricanes are currently 13th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, which makes things difficult. However, in the Week 13 CFP bracket, they were slated as the 11th seed and had a first-round game against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Hurricanes have two road games to close out the season and are currently fifth in the ACC, so it will be interesting to see if they can make the College Football Playoff with how things have fallen thus far.
