Two of the NFL’s brightest young receivers found themselves in hot water before Monday night’s game in Sin City.

CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens both faced punishment against the Raiders after reportedly breaking team curfew just hours before kickoff. They did win the game by a huge margin, but the move has served as a reality check for the league’s other teams.

Their benching caught everyone off guard. Both receivers are franchise cornerstones, yet neither saw the field when Dallas took possession first.
According to Jordan Tucker, a host at CFO Sports, security cameras busted Lamb and Pickens in the hotel lobby well past curfew the night before the game. The footage reportedly showed both players roaming around when they should’ve been in their rooms.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer kept it vague when addressing reporters. “Some issues noted with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens,” he said, confirming the situation would be handled internally.

ESPN reported that the duo missed the opening series strictly due to a “coach’s decision”—not injury, not illness. Schottenheimer had already spoken with both receivers Monday morning about the consequences of their actions.

However, the punishment didn’t last long. Both wideouts returned for the second offensive series and made their presence memorable immediately.
Pickens had nine catches for 144 yards and a touchdown. The irony? He chose to celebrate his TD on the goalpost but drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Lamb finished with five catches for 66 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown. After Lamb’s touchdown, the coach walked over to both receivers and gave them a big hug.

When Cowboys PR Lisa Salters pressed team officials postgame about the benching, they stonewalled her. “I asked, was this punishment of some sort? And I was told you’ll have to address that with Coach,” Salters said. “It was strictly a coach’s decision.”
The Cowboys now shift focus to Sunday’s division clash against the Eagles. With their new defense following the recent trade, fans hope this Vegas incident stays buried in the desert.
