The Dallas Cowboys are set to report to training camp in Oxnard, Calif., but star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s future is as uncertain as ever.
According to a report from Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Lamb and the Cowboys have not “had substantial contract talks” with the star wide receiver eligible for a contract extension before the 2024 campaign kicks off.
As the Cowboys get ready to leave for training camp today the organization hasn’t had substantial contract talks with receiver CeeDee Lamb, a person with knowledge of the discussions said.

As Watkins points out, the path forward for both sides could include Lamb holding out, reporting to camp but not practicing or even both sides reaching an 11th-hour agreement before training camp practices get underway.
In all likelihood, Lamb will not be on the field with his Cowboys teammates when training camp gets underway.
Cowboys’ Tumultuous Offseason Continues
Lamb isn’t the only high-priced star who is eligible for a new contract but has yet to reach a deal this offseason.
The Cowboys also must decide just how committed the franchise is to Dak Prescott at quarterback into the future, as well as All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons’ value. All three stars began the offseason eligible for extensions and it now seems likely that none will have struck a deal before training camp gets underway.
Lamb is one of Prescott’s favorite targets and most prolific receivers in the NFL.
Last season, Lamb caught a career-high 135 passes for 1,749 yards with 12 touchdowns, and is set to collect $17.99 million in 2024, after the Cowboys exercised his fifth-year option.
Whether the two sides can come to an agreement on a long-term deal before the regular season remains to be seen, but it doesn’t appear as though any progress has been made despite Lamb being one of the franchise’s top priorities.
