Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams had a tremendous freshman year with the program. He caught 45 passes for 857 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 19.0 yards per catch. Williams was showing off for Alabama early on in the 2024 college football season, but things cooled off for him a little bit after that.
Ryan Williams did this while only being 17 years old. Almost getting 1,000 yards before turning 18 is quite impressive. The Crimson Tide will face the Michigan Wolverines in a bowl game so maybe he could still get to 1,000 yards before the end of that matchup.
CBS Sports Thinks That Alabama Crimson Tide Wide Receiver Ryan Williams Could Be a Heisman Trophy Finalist Next Season
During the 2020 college football season, former Crimson Tide wide receiver Devonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy. In 2024, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter from the Colorado Buffaloes won the Heisman Trophy.
CBS Sports Writer Blake Brockermeyer wrote about different college football players who could potentially win the Heisman Trophy next season. One of those players could very well be Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams. Brockermeyer said about the star wide receiver:
“Williams started off the year with some highlight catches that put the nation on notice but faded a little as the season went on. Williams is a highly athletic receiver who can track and catch contested balls and has the speed to separate with green grass ahead of him. Williams is expected to be a major part of Alabama’s offense that should air it out a bit more considering Ty Simpson won’t need the QB run baked into the gameplan. Williams enrolled late so expect a bigger, faster, stronger version of himself in 2025 as he turns, yes, 18-years-old.”
Williams will no doubt be the top wide receiver option in the Alabama offense next season. It would not be a surprise to see him have over 1,000 yards next season and have electrifying numbers for the Crimson Tide. Williams is 6’0″ and weighs 175 lbs.
Stats
The last time Williams went over 70 yards receiving was against the Tennessee Volunteers on 10/19. He caught eight passes for 73 yards receiving in that game. Williams only went over 100 yards receiving twice this season. There is a chance that next year he have more than two 100 yards receiving in games.
