Another chapter is about to open in the 2024 NFL season for the Tennessee Titans franchise. Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill have virtually played their respective last game in Titans threads, with both expected to hit the free-agent market. Mike Vrabel has already parted ways with Tennessee.
Left behind is an intriguing young quarterback in Will Levis, who is viewed to be the team’s QB1 starting in the 2024 NFL campaign. But Levis is far from a finished product. The Titans will continue to have some growing pains with him under center. If he is to take his play to the next level, he will have to find a way to be effective when the lights are on their brightest, per Boomer Esiason.
Via Jim Wyatt of NFL.com:
“(Levis) has the arm to make all the throws, but it all comes down to here,” Esiason said while pointing to his head. “How do you handle the pressure? Brock Purdy? Seamless. Patrick Mahomes? Seamless. Joe Burrow? Seamless. (Levis) is not seamless just yet, and we have to be able to see if he can grow in this new offense as well.
“Because you are asking a second-year player to learn a new offense, which is not going to be easy.”
Will Levis Has Something To Prove To The Tennessee Titans In HIs Year 2 In the NFL
Levis surprised many in his rookie season when he made his first NFL appearance in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons in which he went off for 238 passing yards and four passing touchdowns with zero interceptions. He finished the season with 1,808 passing yards and eight touchdowns with four interceptions across nine starts.
There is still so much to prove for Levis, and 2024 offers him a golden opportunity to show the Tennessee Titans that he’s the QB of the future for the team. It is going to be easier said than done for the former Kentucky Wildcats signal-caller, especially with the Titans now under a new head coach in Brian Callahan, who has a fresh set of ideas and schemes to introduce to the team.
