The Pittsburgh Panthers went into the offseason looking for a new quarterback. They accomplished their goal in a big way. The program landed former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Eli Holstein out of the transfer portal this weekend.

Pittsburgh Panthers Land QB Eli Holstein
Obviously, Holstein did not play much in 2023. As with many top programs, the log jam at the quarterback position meant that Holstein did not see the field much. Jalen Milroe was the clear starter and is returning in 2024. However, he is oozing with potential. The former four-star recruit was ranked no. 84 in the 2023 cycle and was a top-ten quarterback in that class. This is a huge get for the program as Holstein could be the quarterback for a long time.
2024 Outlook
The ACC is going to be hard to predict next season. The good news is that the Panthers avoid Florida State in the regular season. They do have to play Clemson, Syracuse, and North Carolina but all of those seem like winnable games. The Tigers are always tough but are not the powerhouse they once were. Syracuse got Kyle McCord in the offseason but will have a lot of new players. The Tar Heels are losing Drake Maye and should take a step backward. If Holstein can come in and play well right away, the Panthers could make some noise.
This commitment has to make Pittsburgh Panthers fans happy. Getting a quarterback is the most important thing to figure out and the program seems to have that box checked.
