The Clemson Tigers are coming off of a subpar season for their standards. They had some heartbreaking losses early in the season but looked better as the season went on. Now, like so many other teams, they are dealing with players leaving via the transfer portal. Safety Andrew Mukuba has put his name in the portal according to reports.

Clemson Tigers S Andrew Mukuba Enters Transfer Portal
Mukuba was a former top 50 recruit in the 2021 cycle. He immediately became a star at Clemson. In his freshman year, he earned Freshman All-American honors as well as ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 35 games he has amassed 149 tackles (4.5 for loss), a sack, 20 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and an interception for the Tigers. Dabo Swinney is losing one of his leaders on the defense which will be hard to replace.
Will Dabo Change His Tune On The Portal?
The Clemson head coach has not been in favor of the transfer portal. He wants to cultivate talent over time and not simply handpick players from the transfer portal to play for a year or two. After this season, his opinion has come under fire. Whether he likes it or not, this is the current college football landscape. In any sport, it is usually adapt or become irrelevant. While the sentiment behind Swinney’s message is great, it doesn’t seem realistic right now.
Will Clemson be able to bounce back in 2024? The team ended the season playing well and hopefully, that will translate into next season.
