Like all 32 teams, the Baltimore Ravens need to deal with the cap situation, and paying out bonuses etc for long term contracts.
March 13th kicked off the 2024 league year, some moves will start to free up cap and some will pay out bonuses for every team including Baltimore.
Here’s a look at some of these moves so far.
Lamar Jackson
Baltimore has made a $17.5 million payment to the MVP that’ll reduce Jackson’s 2024 base salary from a fully guaranteed $31.75 million to a fully guaranteed $14.25 million.
Jackson’s 42.75 million base salary was guaranteed for injury. $22.5 million of the $42.75 million was fully guaranteed at signing. The remaining $20.25 is fully gguaranteed.
QB Lamar Jackson‘s $17.5M option bonus for 2024 was paid out, & $21M of his 2025 compensation is now guaranteed.
The 2x MVP has earned his money and Baltimore is paying it to him.
Roquan Smith
Baltimore paid $12 million to lower Roquan Smith’s fully guaranteed $18 million 2024 base salary to $6 million.
Also, Roquan Smith’s $15 million 2025 base salary is now guaranteed.
Another player who’s earned their money since being in Baltimore, and is being paid worth that.
Mark Andrews
Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was paid a $4 million roster bonus due.
This is a part of Andrews huge contract with the Ravens that is, a 4-year, $56,000,000 contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, as an extension to his rookie contract signed at the time of drafting in 2018. The total includes a $10,163,055 signing bonus, $37,583,055 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $14,000,000.
Mark Andrews got injured in the 2023 season vs the Cincinnati Bengals, Andrews returned in the AFC championship vs the Kansas City Chiefs.
This Guarantees (if there was any doubt) all of these players will continue to be with the Ravens for the 2024 season.
