It is safe to say that Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young’s first year in the NFL was a difficult one for him and his team.
Taken first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Panthers, Young carried with him into his rookie season a ton of pressure to deliver right away. However, Young struggled mightily under center in 2023, leaving many to question whether the Panthers made a bad decision to use a top pick on the former Alabama Crimson Tide star signal-caller.

The Panthers are not about to just give up on Young, though. Veteran quarterback and Panthers backup Andy Dalton believes that Yoiung is different from the other top picks who did not deliver on their potential in the NFL.
Via David Newton of ESPN:
Backup quarterback Andy Dalton understands. When asked what makes Young different from others who were drafted No. 1 and failed, Dalton deadpanned: “Just the type of person that Bryce is.”

Dalton also thinks that the Young has a better supporting cast around him for the 2024 season, and that should translate into an uptick in his production this year.
“The best thing that you can do is have the experience of being out there,” Dalton continued. “Bryce got that last year. This year, we’re still unknown. We won’t know what’s going to happen. But it’s set up for Bryce to take a big jump.”
In 2023, Young passed for 2,877 yards and 11 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. The Panthers went just 2-15 that season., while also ranking second-worst in the league overall with just 13.9 points per game.
