The Carolina Panthers’ month-long break is nearing a conclusion. Rookies reported to training camp on Monday, July 21, while veterans reported on Tuesday, July 22, at Bank of America Stadium. Due to construction, the Panthers will not hold open practices this summer, but they will host Fan Fest on Saturday, August 2.
The team’s top linebacker has yet to be cleared from last season’s injury.
Carolina Panthers star suffered a head injury in December

Josey Jewell suffered a concussion at some point during Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals despite playing every single defensive snap. As a result, he missed the final two regular season games. Since then, Jewell has participated in individual drills during spring workouts but has yet to clear the concussion protocol, seven months removed from the injury.
Carolina Panthers suddenly cut key defensive starter

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Panthers have released Josey Jewell so he can prioritize his health. Therefore, the front office frees up $3.375 million in cap space and incurs $4.333 million dead cap in 2025 and $2.333 million in 2026, per Over The Cap. As Garafolo points out, if Jewell progresses nicely and clears the protocol, he could return to the team at some point.
