The Carolina Panthers have found their quarterback of the future. They traded with the Chicago Bears in order to get to the number one overall selection and selected Bryce Young out of Alabama. The team is hoping that Young can come in and bring some stability to the quarterback position.
Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young
The Panthers are in an interesting spot. They have talent on the roster and a coaching staff that has some potential. Brian Burns is an all-pro talent. They signed Miles Sanders in the offseason. The offensive line looked decent last season. Young can come in and not have to be the savior of the roster. He can play decent and it can be a huge upgrade.
Size Concerns?
Young has size concerns. He is the smallest quarterback by far that has ever been drafted. The NFL is full of huge guys and small quarterbacks have not always done well. Young will look to buck the trend of small quarterbacks. He will have to change some habits but Frank Reich has proven he can develop quarterbacks before. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson found success in the league being small quarterbacks and Young looks to continue that trend.
This was probably the least shocking pick of the draft. It seemed that the Carolina Panthers were going to select Bryce Young for a week or so. They got their guy. Now they have to develop and hope he can be a long-term option at quarterback.
