The Carolina Panthers sign a quarterback and center
The Carolina Panthers kept themselves busy Monday ahead of the free agency period on Wednesday. The Panthers made major news on Friday afternoon when they traded with the Chicago Bears for their number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Panthers then needed to change their scope before Wednesday.
The Panthers appeared to let quarterback Sam Darnold walk. According to multiple reports, he is set to sign on Wednesday with the San Francisco 49ers. That move makes sense for the Panthers, as they will more than likely be taking a quarterback with that number one overall pick. The Panthers had been in talks to sign Darnold before the trade with the Bears was made.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Panthers are extending center Bradley Bozeman for three seasons. The deal is worth $18 million. The new quarterback in Carolina will inherit a stable offensive line this fall.
The #Panthers have a deal for center Bradley Bozeman, locking him in for the long-term. He gets 3-years and $18M, source said.
