After battling many injuries and missing 29 out of 51 regular-season games in his first three seasons in the NFL, Carolina Panthers star cornerback Jaycee Horn had a solid fourth season in the league, playing a career-high 15 games in 2024. Horn recorded 68 tackles, five TFLs, two sacks, one interception, and a career-high 13 pass deflections while allowing 41 receptions on 77 targets for 474 yards, six touchdowns, and a 92.7 passer rating in coverage. His efforts earned him his first Pro Bowl selection.

Jaycee Horn enters the final year of his rookie contract, which he signed during the 2021 offseason. Horn has a $12.472 million fully guaranteed fifth-year option for the 2025 season since the Panthers exercised the option last May. After the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, the star cornerback will enter free agency unless the front office extends him before then.
General manager/president of football operations Dan Morgan told the media on Monday, January 6, that the front office will prioritize an extension for Horn this offseason. Morgan also said that the star cornerback is the focal point of the defense. Here’s what he had to say about Horn:
“I think I said that to you guys the last time I talked to you guys,” Morgan said, via Darin Gantt of the team’s website. “That Jaycee is obviously the focal point of the defense, somebody that we’re going to want here long-term, and, and we’re going to work on getting him a long-term deal.”

During an appearance on the Jim Rome Show last week, Jaycee Horn said he wants to stay in Carolina long-term. During the interview, he also expressed the importance of loyalty. Finally, despite the Panthers’ struggles in his first four seasons with the team, he believes the team is trending in the right direction.
“I’m a guy that’s kinda building on loyalty,” Horn said via the Jim Rome Show. “I wanna be where I was drafted. I seen those struggling days as a Panther when I first came in, even still going through a little bit of them now.
“And I know the team is going in the right direction, the organization’s going in the right direction and Charlotte’s a cool spot. So I’d definitely love to be there and be a part of the change and see the glory days.”
