Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales In a surprising move, has announced that Bryce Young will reclaim his role as starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Denver Broncos.
Although benched after the second week of the season, Young’s field mastery and dedication have positioned him as the frontrunner to step back onto the field (not to mention Andy Dalton’s injury from a car accident), presenting him a prime opportunity to showcase his skills against a formidable opponent.
Bryce Young Set for Starting Role Against Broncos
Despite being benched early this season, Young is still maintaining a starter’s mindset throughout the season.
Shared in a recent interview, Young confidently spoke about his approach of consistently preparing as though he would play each week.
“I’ve always prepared like I was playing, my approach is the same,”
“My job is always, no matter what, it would be the same level of preparation,” Young said, via the team’s website. “You always have to prepare like you’re going to play no matter where it is. So, it doesn’t change my approach or anything.
For me, I never was out of it. That’s just out of respect for the game and respect for the team, and knowing just how the league is. There’s never a, take a step back or phone it in for a week. I have too much love for a game to do that.”
He’s been an absolute stud through this whole process,” offensive passing game coordinator Dave Canales said of Young at a press briefing:
“Young has been “an absolute stud through this whole process” and that the second-year player has remained “engaged”
So when you combine this glowing endorsement with the team’s need, it makes sense why Young was brought back. Now, Carolina will see if this charge is the jolt its on-field dynamics needed.
The Risk And Reward Of Young’s Reintegration In Carolina Panthers
The road ahead is not going to be easy for Young. And Panters reintroducing Young isn’t without risks.
The Denver Broncos, boasting a third-ranked defense, overall in total yards allowed present a formidable adversary for Young’s return.
Surely this will test Young’s determination and perhaps act as an ultimate litmus test for his future performances in general.
However, Young’s time away from being out of the starters seems to have been a period where he learned a great deal and matured.
And his observations from the sidelines have equipped him with unique insights and this might be a significant reward and a strategic move the Panthers need as they navigate the remainder of the season.
Young keeps fans waiting for game day to discover if his diligent preparation will lead them to the win.
