“Arizona Running Out of Time”: Cardinals Land $33 Million Wide Receiver in Intriguing Trade Proposal

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves in a precarious position, facing mounting pressure to improve their struggling roster. With a season that started with promise now teetering on the edge, analysts are suggesting bold moves to reshape the offense. A recent proposal has Arizona acquiring wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders, a decision that could be pivotal for the team’s playoff aspirations.

Meyers, who carries a $33 million contract, has emerged as a reliable target despite the challenges he has faced in Las Vegas. His production has been steady, and his experience could provide the Cardinals with the offensive boost they desperately need. Currently, Arizona’s receiving corps is underwhelming, with Marvin Harrison Jr. leading the way but little support from other wideouts, making Meyers an appealing option.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Chris Lammons (38) stops Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (16) from catching a pass in the end zone Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, 40-6.

Incorporating Meyers into the lineup would not only enhance the passing game but also relieve some pressure from quarterback Kyler Murray. With Arizona averaging only 170.2 passing yards per game, adding a proven playmaker could dramatically improve its offensive output. Meyers’ ability to make tough catches and gain yards after the catch would complement Harrison’s skill set, creating a more dynamic duo.

The urgency for the Cardinals to make a trade is heightened by their current 2-3 record and the looming fear of falling further behind in a competitive NFC. While some fans are cautious about the potential disruption a new player might bring, others argue that the risk is worth the chance to salvage the season. The francise must weigh its options carefully as Arizona considers how aggressive it wants to be in pursuing trades.

NFL Analysis Says Arizona Cardinals Should Trade for Jakobi Meyers

Arizona can reverse its current course if they end up with Meyers in a trade. This is detailed more in an analysis by Alex Kay for Bleacher Report.

The Arizona Cardinals need to get their passing offense going if they are going to compete for a playoff spot. They started off the year strong with back-to-back wins, but have since gone on to become the first team in NFL history to lose three consecutive games on last-second field goals.

The Cardinals are averaging a concerning 170.2 yards per game through the air—the third-worst mark in the league—over the first five weeks. Second-year wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. and veteran tight end Trey McBride are the only two Arizona players to go over 65 receiving yards or 13 receptions this year, with Greg Dortch (8/52/1) being the second-most productive player in the team’s receiving corps.

Arizona has to find another viable wideout to complement Harrison, a role Meyers would excel in. While he’s been working as a WR1 for the Raiders, he’s a more natural WR2 and would thrive in that role for the Cardinals.

If the Cardinals can secure Meyers, they not only gain a valuable asset but also send a message to the locker room that they are committed to winning. The potential trade could serve as a catalyst for the team, igniting both the players and the fanbase as they push for a playoff spot.

Acquiring Meyers could be a transformative move for Arizona as it seeks to overcome early season struggles. With the trade deadline approaching, the urgency to act is palpable, and adding a player of Meyers’ caliber could make all the difference in their quest for a successful season.
