Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans quarterback, recently spoke about his so-called rivalry with Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns. Ward and Sanders were highlighted as rivals right from their time in the NCAA and this continued on to their time with the NFL.
In fact, Ward and Sanders were expected to be among the top picks for quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft. While Ward made it to the first round of the draft and was bagged by the Titans as the first pick, Sanders had to wait until the fifth round to hear his name called out and was picked up by the Cleveland Browns.

“I don’t have a rivalry with him. That’s my boy. So, at the end of the day, the whole process, we thought me and him were going to be one and two (overall picks in the draft) the whole time. Whether he’s one, I’m two, whether I’m one, he’s two. And so that’s just always been, you know, our mindset. It didn’t go that way. But I mean, just coming out of college, even to the draft, I thought he was one of the better quarterbacks in the draft as well, even throughout college. He’s been productive where he’s been every time. We both started FCS. … and that’s where we really met for the first time with our quarterback coach when we first got to college.” Cam Ward said about Shedeur Sanders in his recent appearance on the ‘Bussin’ with the Boys’ podcast.

Meanwhile, Cam Ward is enjoying quite a bit of success in his rookie year with the Tennessee Titans. Ward was recently announced as one of the seven captains of the team, and will be one of the few players who wear the letter ‘C’ on their jerseys.
Cam Ward Has Faith In Shedeur Sanders As Future QB1
In the same podcast episode, Cam Ward also predicted that Shedeur Sanders would make a fantastic starting quarterback someday, whenever he gets the chance. Sanders is currently QB3 with the Cleveland Browns and will most likely not play in the upcoming season.

“But I mean, when he gets his chance, you know, to become a starter, I know he’s going to make the most of it.” Cam Ward said.
Shedeur Sanders was definitely hoping to at least be named backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. However, rookie Dillon Gabriel beat him to it and Deion Sanders’ youngest son will have to wait for another opportunity to show off his skills on the field.
