Cam Skattebo, newly drafted running back for the New York Giants, was recently named in a lawsuit by former Arizona State Sun Devils teammate, Mattheos Katergaris. Katergaris claims that Skattebo’s actions involving a golf cart caused an elbow injury, which essentially ended his dreams of making it to the National Football League.
The lawsuit claims that Skattebo repeatedly jumped in the back of a golf cart which had Katergaris in it, which caused the vehicle to tip over. When it did, Katergaris’ triceps was lacerated which required surgery and plenty of physical therapy.
“Skattebo allegedly ‘jumped up and down’ on the back of a golf cart during an Arizona State Sun Devils practice on July 31, 2023, causing the seat to break,” Dan Benton of USA Today mentioned in a report, citing a Maricopa County Superior Court filing.
According to Katergaris’ lawyer, Neil Udulutch, his distal triceps tendon was almost fully ruptured because of the injury. In response to Katergaris’ lawsuit, Skattebo’s own lawyer claims he did not do anything wrong and he needs to pay attorney’s fees for the lawsuit.
“Cam Skattebo’s court filing asked that Mattheos Katergaris’ complaint be dismissed with prejudice and that Skattebo be awarded attorneys’ fees and costs with interest,” Dan Benton said about Cam Skattebo in his article for USA Today.

Cam Skattebo has not spoken out about the lawsuit or commented on it. However, the rookie running back has been known to be pretty physical in his approach on the field, which was noticed pretty fast by analysts and reporters.
Cam Skattebo Makes Great Impression On Teammates During Training
Apart from the lawsuit from his former college football teammate, Cam Skattebo seems to be doing well with his team in terms of training and bonding. Skattebo has been pretty much rocking it at the team’s recent training camps. Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. who joined the Giants in the previous football season, recently spoke to reporters, remarking that he and Skattebo have been able to “complement each other” pretty well.

Both Skattebo and Tracy Jr. will be instrumental players for the New York Giants in the upcoming football season as the team tries to improve their record from the previous NFL season. Last year, the Giants basically tanked and are desperate to prove themselves to be still a performing team. While Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. may indeed complement each other well, it is still not confirmed as to which of the two will be RB1 for the Giants in the 2025 NFL season.
