Tua Tagovailoa, quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, recently returned to play after suffering from a concussion. On Thanksgiving Day, the Dolphins took on the Green Bay Packers, starring Tagovailoa, who managed a pair of touchdowns. Miami lost the game 30-17 to the home team after playing at a chilly Lambeau Field.
While athletes are trained to play in various conditions, the chill was apparently detrimental to Tagovailoa’s performance. Indeed, the player missed a few catches and did not do well in his role in leading the team to victory. Several football experts have felt that the low temperatures might have had something to do with the quarterback’s poor playing on Thanksgiving Day.
Former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers and the New England Patriots, Cam Newton, spilled some tea on what might have gone wrong for Tagovailoa in that game. In Friday’s episode of ‘First Take’ on ESPN, Newton pinned the blame on the chilly weather for the Dolphins’ quarterback and his poor play.
“If anything that you need to know about the Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel, Tua Tagovailoa, in cold weather situations, why are all of their routes dinks and dunks? Or it’s end-breaking routes. Show me a deep non-ball or deep post or an out-breaking route. What am I saying? I’m saying Tua’s arm strength is exposed in cold weather.” Newton said.
“How do I know this? I thought the cold was just another type of situation. When I went up to the internship in New England and we had to go outside to practice in a day-to-day basis, that ball was flurrying out there rather than getting down in a straight line. What I’m saying is the verdict is out when scouting the Miami Dolphins because Tua doesn’t have the arm strength in cold weather,” he continued.

In the game against the Green Bay Packers, Tagovailoa completed only 37 passes despite attempting 46 for 365 yards, scoring twice. Raheem Mostert led the team in rushing with five carries for 19 yards, while Jonnu Smith managed ten receptions for 113 yards on defense.
Tua Tagovailoa Confident About Dolphins Making It To Playoffs
Meanwhile, despite having just lost to the Green Bay Packers, Tua Tagovailoa is still confident that the Miami Dolphins will make the playoffs. Miami’s reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques quizzed Tagovailoa about where the team was regarding the playoffs.
The quarterback who just returned to play after suffering a concussion gave only positive news about his unit. Tagovailoa went on to say that ‘anything can happen in this league’ and that Miami’s dream of making it to the playoffs is certainly not dead.
