Calvin Ridley is applying for reinstatement to the NFL today according to Ian Rapoport. Calvin Ridley is eligible for reinstatement today and could be back in the NFL during the 2023 season. Ridley was suspended during the 2022-23 season for illegal betting.
Calvin Ridley’s Betting
Calvin Ridley missed a substantial portion of the 2021 season due to personal matters at home. Ridley was also dealing with mental health issues and had to step away from the gridiron. Ridley engaged in betting on NFL games while he wasn’t playing. According to Sports Handle, Ridley bet more than $3,900 on six separate wagers that included Falcons games. Ridley also bet on games that didn’t involve the Falcons. According to Sports Handle, Ridley bet $100 on those games and won $654.
Calvin Ridley didn’t think his betting was an issue. Ridley tweeted I bet $1,500 total I don’t have a gambling problem. Ridley was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 1 for two future draft picks.

Before the betting issues, Ridley was one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL. Ridley has played in 49 games, caught 248 passes, recorded 3,342 yards, and scored 28 receiving touchdowns. If Ridley does get reinstated, he can bring his talents to Jacksonville. Ridley can also pair with Jacksonville’s other skill players and be a weapon for Trevor Lawrence.
