Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback, did not exactly have a smooth first couple of days at training camp, as pointed out by numerous analysts and sports pundits. Williams was clearly looking like a fish out of water as he seemed to repeat many of the blunders from his time at the OTAs, as head coach Ben Johnson was seen getting irate with the quarterback.

NFL analyst, Colin Cowherd recently discussed the same in the latest episode of ‘The Herd’, even going on to remark that it will definitely take some time before Caleb Williams can be expected to actually perform for the team in the upcoming NFL season.
“At one point, Ben Johnson barking at him. He pulled the first team off the field. It was a disaster for Caleb Williams yesterday. Some of his OTA issues resurfaced. Not getting the play right, looking disorganized,” Colin Cowherd spoke about Caleb Williams’ performance at the training camp with the Chicago Bears.

While Caleb Williams is definitely a bright talent, the quarterback struggled with very poor coaching in his first season for the team. However, with Ben Johnson taking over as head coach for the team, analysts are expecting Williams to do much better in the upcoming season. Still, it is has been an uphill climb for the young quarterback as he is still trying to figure out what Johnson expects out of him in practice and the NFL campaign itself.

Caleb Williams Has New Goal Set By Coach Ben Johnson
On another note, Caleb Williams will be working toward a new goal set by head coach Ben Johnson in the upcoming NFL season. Johnson recently spoke to reporters during the training camp and admitted that he and Williams are working toward a personal goal in the 2025 NFL campaign.
“We certainly have goals that we strive for, it’s not a secret. I told him I would love for him this season to complete 70% of his balls. So, you would like to think that over the course of practice that we’re completing 70% or more or that’s hard to just magically arise in a game. It’s a lofty goal but it’s one we’re going to strive for because of that we’re going to use that as a benchmark and kind of work from there.” Ben Johnson said.

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears will be kicking off their 2025 NFL campaign with a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. The team will be definitely eager to get closer to the playoffs after failing to do so in the previous year.
