Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has received a little criticism on and off. The rising star has carved a great path to the NFL, but he’s got plenty of challenges ahead. Williams recently got advice from former Bears return specialist Devin Hester.
The former NFL star thinks that Williams is a little slow when it comes to getting rid of the ball. He thinks that the QB spends a little too much time thinking. Instead, he must let go of the ball and make a faster decision while taking on opponents.
“I would say, just getting rid of the ball a little quicker,” Hester said. “I know he makes plays with his legs, but I would say, like you say, holding the ball a little bit, sometimes you just gotta let it go. I would say make a decision a little faster this year. And I think that comes with the experience from last year, of the speed of the game,” Hester said.
It was not easy for Caleb Williams, especially since it was his rookie year. Despite the challenges, he managed to do a decent job. While Hester was just giving him a piece of advice, he also mentioned that Williams has a bright future.
“This year, if he can get rid of the ball a little quicker, making the decision a little quicker is my answer. Get rid of the ball a little quicker. Make the decision quicker. You know what I mean? And the sky’s the limit for him,” Heston continued.
What’s the one thing Hall of Famer Devin Hester needs to see from Caleb in Year 2?

Caleb Williams Senses A Strong Connection With Head Coach Ben Johnson
Caleb Williams will be under the guidance of first-year head coach Ben Johnson. The QP says he has the knack to vibe with somebody and connect well. Williams says he had the same feeling when he met Lincoln Riley, the head coach of the USC Trojans.
“I have a knack for being able to tell when I vibe with somebody, connect well with somebody. It was a pretty similar feeling to when I met Lincoln (Riley) five years ago, which is crazy to say. A very similar feeling,” Caleb Williams said.

Williams will have a great opportunity to shine with Ben Johnson. The QB can step up his game and have a promising year for the Bears. However, as Hester mentioned, getting rid of the ball a little quicker might help him.
