I must admit I was a little skeptical that C.J. Stroud had what it takes at the beginning of the 2021 season. But Stroud is now the Ohio State Buckeyes Pre-Season Heisman favorite.

Going into the 2022 season it is now time to admit I was wrong to be. As we all gear up for the 2022 NCAA College Football season, we all want to know who the Heisman Trophy favorites are. The Ohio State Heisman favorite is C.J. Stroud.
Stroud finished the 2021 season with 4,435 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. Over the course of the regular-season he broke multiple single season records at Ohio State such as: completion percentage (71.9), passer rating (186.6), and passing yards per game average (369.6). Stroud then had a record game during the 108th Rose Bowl, breaking the passing yard record with 573 yards through the air and the passing touchdown record throwing six touchdowns.
With Stroud’s now proven talent from last season, a favorable 2022 schedule and the returning offensive weapons it is no surprise why the young Buckeye is leading the pre-season Heisman race.
The Supporting Cast of the Ohio State Buckeyes Heisman Favorite

The Ohio State Buckeyes have some major offensive weapons returning to support C.J. Stroud on his 2022 Heisman journey. A few of those weapons may even be able to make a run for the award as well.
Quite possibly the most important player to support Stroud returning for the 2022 season is receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Buckeye receiver finished the 2021 season with 95 receptions, 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns. Smith-Njigba became Strouds favorite target throughout the season, and that showed in the 21-22 Rose Bowl game. The two Buckeyes connected for 15 receptions, 347 yards and 3 touchdowns. They gave us a preview of the big play offense this Buckeyes team will carry into the 2022 College Football season
Another player Stroud will have in his arsenal is running-back TreVeyon Henderson. He finished his freshman season with 1,248 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. He is a force out of the backfield for the Buckeyes and will help open up the field for Stroud to spread the ball around. He is also a great receiving option out of the backfield, catching 27 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns during the 2021 season.
I can’t be the only person excited to see this Buckeyes offense take the field on Sept. 3 against Notre Dame. C.J. Stroud finished fourth in the 2021 Heisman voting and he will no doubt come into the 2022 College Football Season with something to prove.
