BYU Bowl Game Projections
BYU finished the regular season at 7-5 after playing another tough schedule and having a less-than-predicted season. The Cougars are awaiting their fate for which early bowl game they will play instead of a later season one after the potential they had.
Preseason BYU Bowl Game Prediction
BYU vs San Diego State in the Hawaii Bowl on December 24th
This came after another 10-win season for the Cougars and with some key players staying another year. With some big matchups on their 2022 schedule like Arkansas, Oregon, and Notre Dame but with those losses they are looking at a lower bowl game and not a so big opponent. This would have been a fun game playing San Diego State in another bowl game during Independence as they beat them in 2012 with a very heavy defensive matchup.
Mid-Season BYU Bowl Game Prediction
BYU vs East Carolina in the Independence Bowl on December 23rd
After going 4-2 with losses to Oregon and Notre Dame at this point in the season. BYU had an impressive win over Baylor but struggled with Oregon and Notre Dame from the beginning of the game. In these two games, neither side of the ball came to play and the defensive coaching was called into question. The Cougars have already played ECU and lost so it would be a nice revenge game but could also be another challenging game for the Cougars.
Post-Season BYU Bowl Game Prediction
ESPN
Coastal Carolina in the LendingTree Bowl on Dec 17th. I don’t want to see this matchup again, especially after last time and how bad their style of play was and their sportsmanship. It wouldn’t be a fun game to watch unless the Cougars could put a full game together and just flat-out beat them.

Ohio in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec 26th. This would be a fun matchup for the Cougars as it could be an easy win if they come to play ball and they could play some backs if they were up by so many points.

UCF in the Independence Bowl on Dec 23rd. Let’s play them in another bowl game in two years. The last time they met was in the Boca Raton Bowl in 2020 with Zach Wilson and Tyler Allgeier.

Kansas in the First Responders Bowl on Dec 27. This would be a nice matchup and a great opponent as they are Big 12 and one BYU should get used to playing for years to come.
