BYU beats Stanford to close out the 2022 and the Independence Era. The Cougars finish the regular season 7-5 and are headed to a Bowl game to be named later. With an almost complete game on the field for the Cougars and many players having season or career highs, it ended on a high note. With this win, BYU has now defeated every Pac-12 team at least once in program history. The Cougars put up five touchdowns and used Jaren Hall, Hinckley Ropati, Puka Nacua, and Isaac Rex put up two.

Players with a Great Game
Chris Brooks
Brooks rushed for another over 100-yard game his third as a Cougar. He had 23 carries for 164 yards and no touchdowns.

Jakob Robinson
Robinson was third in tackling for this game and is one of the ones the Cougars rely on to make plays on the defensive side of the ball. He had seven tackles yesterday.
Ben Bywater
Bywater another consistent player on the defense and lead them in tackles yesterday with nine of them.
Isaac Rex
Rex has had his best game since that ankle injury last year. He had two receptions for 44 yards and two touchdowns.

BYU Football
Lorenzo Fauatea
Fauatea had a big night for the Cougar defensive line. He had three tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Players that Stood Out
Hinckley Ropati
Ropati has come out this season and shown that he can be a back for the Cougars for years to come. He rushed for 85 yards on nine carries and one touchdown.

Gabe Jeudy-Lally
He was all over the field last night and put his name out there for the coaches to take into account as a starter for next season. Jeudy-Lally had five tackles, 0.5 sacks and 0.5 tackles for loss.
Tyler Batty
Batty hasn’t been out there much this season but when he has the other team has struggled. He had six tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.
Micah Harper
Harper was flying all over the field yesterday and was making plays and saving touchdowns. He had eight tackles to help BYU beats Stanford.
Takeaways
Offense
Came out rolling just like they did against South Florida and couldn’t be stopped once again. The run game found its footing yesterday and I hope it stays that way into the bowl game. Jaren Hall had another great day this time rushing the football he then left the game early with an ankle injury. Reports are that his return was a precautionary and X-rays were negative. Keanu Hill also left early with a wrist injury so keep an eye on that as the Cougars prep for the bowl game.

Defense
The defense had a great looking first half and really put a complete half together. Thankfully the injuries at linebacker didn’t effect the game yesterday as it didn’t matter who was in. The rush defense still needs some help and maybe this time before the bowl game will give them time to fix it. Keenan Pili left with a lower leg injury and this would be another blow to linebacker group.
