During the Cincinnati Bengals- Buffalo Bills game on Monday Night Football, 24-year-old defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed during a hit he sustained while acting Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins in the first quarter. Hamlin was able to get up off the ground from the initial contact hit before collapsing back down to the field and laying there for several minutes. During the time on the ground medical personnel had to administer CPR to Hamlin.
Teammates from the Buffalo BIlls and members of their opponent — the Cincinnati Bengals — got down on one knee and some started to pray for Bill’s cornerback Damar Hamlin as treatment of the young player took more than 10 minutes.
An ambulance came onto the field where Hamlin was strapped to the gurney and taken away to a local hospital. More news will come for the young star as updates are reviewed, and the league has postponed completion of the game.
One update was released before leaving the stadium medical personnel were able to get a pulse back for Hamlin but he is not breathing on his own, the use of CPR and an AED on the field were used.
Hamlin was a sixth round draft pick out of Pittsburgh in 2021.
