The Buffalo Bills’ eight-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Fame EDGE rusher Von Miller hasn’t been the same player he once was ever since he suffered an ACL tear during Thanksgiving of the 2022 season. Even though he isn’t the same player he once was, Miller is still a reliable pass rusher, even in a rotational role. He recorded 17 tackles, seven TFLs, 40 pressures, 30 hurries, four QB hits, six sacks, and an 85.5 PFF grade in 13 regular-season games, representing 279 (33%) defensive snaps.
However, there is one important caveat to consider: his lucrative contract.
The Buffalo Bills veteran pass rusher could be a cap casualty this offseason

Since he isn’t the same player he once was, is currently in a rotational role on defense, and is getting older—he will turn 36 in March—Von Miller’s performance on the football field doesn’t justify his six-year, $120 million contract with three years remaining on his deal. Miller currently has a $17,145,000 base salary and a $23,814,000 cap hit for the 2025 season. Because the Bills are $6.96 million over the cap, and considering they free up $8,397,000 with a pre-June 1st cut designation, he is a cap casualty.
Bills veteran pass rusher wants to remain in Buffalo for the 2025 season

During Monday’s press conference, Von Miller told Sal Capaccio that as long as his key card works, he wants to remain with the Buffalo Bills for the 2025 season. Miller has a very strong desire to win a Super Bowl with the Bills, which is a huge reason why he wants to stay in Buffalo, and he believes they can do just that. Here’s what he had to say about the subject matter:
“However long my key card works in this building, I’m gonna keep coming up in here and I’m going to keep coming in and trying to make (a Super Bowl) happen…I want to be here….I plan on being a Buffalo Bill for sure.”

Is it possible for him to remain in Buffalo for the 2025 season?

Von Miller could remain in Buffalo for next season, but he must rework and renegotiate his contract. Since Miller is scheduled to earn $17,145,000 in base salary, he will not survive the offseason and will be a guaranteed cap casualty if he refuses to rework his contract. He agreed to take a pay cut last offseason, and he might be willing to take another or renegotiate his contract. The only question is whether the Bills are willing to keep him and request for pay cut instead of cutting him outright.
Ultimately, this move is up to General Manager Brandon Beane if he’s willing to renegotiate Von Miller’s contract rather than parting ways with him and freeing north of $8 million in cap space.
