Buffalo Bills Urged To Pursue Impact Veteran Cornerback Before 2024 Season

The Buffalo Bills are heading into the 2024 NFL season as a major question mark.

While they could end up being a legitimate Super Bowl contender, they could also take a big step back from where they have been in recent years. After an offseason that brought some major change, most notably the trade of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, things have changed.

Josh Allen is still in charge of the offense. He is still one of the biggest playmakers at the quarterback position as well.

With training camp right around the corner, the Buffalo Bills should still be looking to upgrade their roster. There are some very good free agents available and one is being talked about as a possible target for Buffalo.

Buffalo Bills Urged To Pursue Impact Cornerback Before 2024 Season

BuffaloDown of FanSided recently took a look at three free agents the Bills should consider pursuing. One of them was veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is still available.

“At 34 years old, Peterson has not shown much signs of slowing down. Just two years ago he snagged five interceptions with the Minnesota Vikings. He has missed just one game in two years, showing that he can remain healthy for the Buffalo defense. Peterson could be ring chasing as he approaches the end of his career. If he believes that the Bills can make a deep run in the playoffs, it would be a great match.”

Peterson is coming off of a 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers that saw him have another productive year.

In 17 games, Peterson racked up 42 total tackles to go along with two interceptions and 11 defended passes. Those numbers clearly show that he can still be a very good NFL starting cornerback.

At 34 years old, the veteran cornerback could also bring great experience to the Bills’ locker room. He could turn into a major leader for the Buffalo Bills when it’s all said and done.

While Peterson could make sense for the Bills, there are a lot of other teams around the league that could consider him as well. It’s very likely that he’ll land a new deal at some point before the regular season.

If Buffalo wants to bring in a nice defensive upgrade in the secondary, Peterson would make perfect sense.
