In a situation that is becoming all too familiar for the Buffalo Bills, another star player suffered a major injury. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Buffalo Bills All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano suffered a torn bicep in Tuesday’s practice and will be out indefinitely. There is a chance that he will be able to return later in the season, but there is no timetable for his return.
This is a significant loss for the Buffalo Bills as he dealt with injuries that limited him to just five games in the 2023 season due to a right leg injury. However, in the 2022 season, he finished with 99 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and a pair of fumble recoveries in 15 games. This will be interesting as third-round rookie Dorian Williams will essentially be tasked to replace what Matt Milano does for the team.
Coach Sean McDermott talked about the injury and how the situation is not great right now:
“It’s an unfortunate situation, right. Matt’s a strong young man. I know he’s going to handle this. Certainly tough, especially coming off of the year he came off of already. The good thing is he’s got a good family behind him that are going to support him as well as the coaching staff and our entire football organization. He’s resilient. We’ve got to be resilient. We’ve got to move forward and be focused on solutions.” h/t ESPN
It will be interesting to see how general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott address the Matt Milano injury and try to replace his production. They could address the injury with the cuts during training camp or even make a trade as they attempt to step up and make the playoffs after winning the AFC East last season.
How much will the Buffalo Bills miss Matt Milano?
The Buffalo Bills are going to be in a tough position with the offensive juggernauts that the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets are expecting to be this year. This is a major loss but the Bills are used to playing without him for the majority of last season.
This Bills team is going to be a good team but they may need to fight for one of the AFC Wild Card spots this season as this is significant blow to the defense.
