Newly acquired Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is reportedly struggling in to find a spot on the team in which he can contribute.
Valdes-Scantling, who started his career playing with the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, most recently won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes.
Buffalo Bills WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling can’t find a spot for himself in the Bills’ offense
Despite the departure of longtime Bills WRs like Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, Valeds-Scantling is still struggling to find a place for himself within the Bills’ offense.
Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic made a report saying that Valdes-Scantling continues to lose chances with starting quarterback Josh Allen.
Joe Buscaglia of TheAthletic.com recently reported that MVS “has faded into the background” and “has yet to make a strong impression in the passing game during team drills” and his chances with quarterback Josh Allen “have dwindled.”
Valdes-Scantling came to the Bills for a fully guaranteed $1.125 million salary after the Chiefs cut him despite making vital plays and catches in the 2023 playoffs.
Buffalo Bills WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling took significant credit for the high-level play of Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers
While no one can take away the two Super Bowl rings Valdes-Scantling acquired during his time in the NFL, the MVPs won by his quarterbacks over the years can be a little more difficult to claim.
Valdes-Scantling recently explained that Rodgers winning MVPs while he was in Green Bay and Mahomes doing the same while he was in Kansas City was not a fluke.
Yeah, he played with Aaron Rodgers & Patrick Mahomes.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling says the good fortune’s mutual:

His role in the MVP seasons of two of the best quarterbacks in NFL history was not irrelevant but said role may be seen as overstated if Valdes-Scantling does in fact fail to find a spot on the Bills’ roster.
How good is Buffalo Bills WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling?
While saying he is responsible for Super Bowls and MVP rings may be a bit of a stretch, Valdes-Scantling’s contributions are relevant.
Valdes-Scantling finished 2023 with his worst numbers to date. In six NFL seasons, the 21 receptions, 315 yards receiving and singular receiving touchdown he acquired were all the lowest in any season of his career.
Just a season before in 2022, Valdes Scantling had two receiving touchdowns with just under 700 yards receiving. The six-year NFL receiver never eclipsed the 700-yard mark, but came extremely close once again with the Packers in 2020 when he had 690 yards receiving.
Valdes-Scantling played his role well with both the Packers and the Chiefs, but the idea that he may struggle to find a place on an NFL roster with only two seasons of more than 600 yards receiving suggests his role was not as large as he suggested.
