Behind the arm of superstar quarterback Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills will eye their first Super Bowl in franchise history this fall. Buffalo lost a war chest of offensive talent this offseason, including a pair of starting receivers and running back depth. The AFC East club did their due diligence in adding to their roster following last season’s abrupt exit from the playoffs, including signing the son of former NFL superstar as an undrafted free agent. However, with final roster cuts looming, Buffalo cut ties with the running back on Tuesday.
Despite a solid showing this preseason, the Buffalo Bills will cut running back Frank Gore Jr. on Tuesday. A three-time All-Sun Belt honoree, Gore Jr. is the son of five-time Pro-Bowler and potential future Hall of Fame running back Frank Gore.
Buffalo Bills Cut Ties with Frank Gore Jr.
According to Jordan Schultz:

The Buffalo Bills will release Gore Jr. despite a stellar showing this preseason. Gore shined during the preseason, posting the best PFF grade among rookie rushers while owning fantastic efficiency. The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles product finished the preseason with the following:
• 163 rushing yards
• 4.9 yards per carry
• 16 receiving yards
• 1 TD
Multiple sources indicate that Gore Jr. struggled with pass protection in training camp, leading to minimum opportunities to protect the passer during live exhibition games. From 2022 to 2023, the running back registered 2,953 scrimmage yards and 22 touchdowns while a leading Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles member. Gore Jr. could become a prime candidate for a team’s 16-man practice squad, opening a door for his return to the Bills. Meanwhile, the team will turn to the trio of Ray Davis, Ty Johnson, and Darrynton Evans. Davis headlines the group after a stellar college career led to the Bills selecting him with the 128th pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. He rushed 13 times for 60 times this preseason.
