On February 1, 2022, Ken Dorsey was promoted by the Buffalo Bills’ Organization to be their new Offensive Coordinator. He would be replacing former OC Brian Daboll who left to become the new Head Coach of the New York Giants (2-0). Dorsey has helped Head Coach Sean McDermott to their 2-0 start.
Background
Dorsey originally joined the Buffalo Bills in 2019 as the team’s Quarterbacks Coach and he has not looked back. He has been fantastic in helping Josh Allen thrive in Buffalo blue. Dorsey helped Allen take another step forward in 2020 in which the quarterback was second in the NFL for MVP.
Allen put up similar success in 2021, but stayed under control better when it came to the postseason. Throughout the Bills playoff run, the signal-caller led the league with a (77.4) completion percentage. He also had the league’s highest passer rating (149), the highest touchdown percentage (14.5%) and highest touchdown passes (9) with (0) ints.
“I think when he got here three years ago, my career definitely changed in terms of how I viewed the game of football,” said Allen of Dorsey. “Just having a guy in the quarterback room that played the game, was the winningest college quarterback of all time. He was 38-2. He’ll never let me forget that. He says it all the time, but just the way he approaches the game. He’s competitive. He’s smart. He works his a** off. I appreciate what he’s done for me over the course of my career so far.”
How Dorsey Prepares for Games
As the Coach of the entire Bills offense, Dorsey is responsible for more than just developing Josh Allen and Case Keenum at the quarterback position. He is also dead set on creating plays during practice that simulate a real game like atmosphere. Most importantly, he is the guy who calls the plays from up in the booth with his Microsoft tablet on gamedays.
