Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving is making his case as the clear leader in the team’s backfield. During the Buccaneers’ resounding 30-7 victory over the New York Giants, Irving delivered a breakout performance that has fantasy managers buzzing about his potential for the rest of the season.
Irving rushed for 87 yards on just 12 carries and had a highlight run of 56 yards. His ability to gain yards after contact was evident, as he rushed for 98 yards after contact and averaged a solid 7.3 yards per carry. He also showed that he could function as a dual threat, collecting 64 receiving yards on six receptions.
Bucky Irving has been one helluva selection by the Bucs front office… most underrated rookie of the year BY FAR

Bucky Irving’s Counter-part
That’s in stark contrast to fellow running back, Rachaad White, who posted just 37 rushing yards on an equal number of carries. White continues to reach double-digit fantasy points, but it’s happening through touchdowns rather than consistent yardage throughout. In the meantime, Sean Tucker has taken a back seat role after fumbling against the Giants.
White and Tucker each saw two touches in the red zone while Irving notched a season-high 52 percent snap share and dominated red-zone opportunities. That increased workload and efficiency for Irving is a signal that Tampa Bay’s offensive priorities are evolving, and his time in the backfield rotation is starting to resemble 1A.

For fantasy football managers, Irving’s upside is undeniable. Heading into Tampa Bay’s favorable schedule, he’s the perfect mix of explosive playmaking and red zone usage for lineups during the critical playoff stretch. Irving’s breakout potential means he’s a must-start in most formats, but White may still see some opportunities.
As the Buccaneers gear up for a potential playoff push, Bucky Irving’s rise mirrors the team’s renewed energy after they lost both their star wide receivers and Godwin for the season. Whether on the field or in your fantasy lineup, he’s poised to be the X-factor as we head into December football.
Keep an eye on Irving—this rookie isn’t just taking over Tampa’s backfield; he’s taking over the fantasy football conversation.
