It was a very welcome addition to the injury front of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Friday, as running back Bucky Irving and wide receiver Chris Godwin both resumed practices after lengthy absences. Irving, who has missed practice since Week 4 with a shoulder subluxation and a foot sprain, was now back on the field and increasing his level of activity. His involvement has been minimal for a few days, but he is slowly working his way back, and the optimism in the locker room of Tampa Bay is overwhelming.

Bucky Irving’s Rehab
Irving was first spotted in a walking boot, and he was absent from several games, raising the question of him suffering an injury that would end his season. Nevertheless, he was medically examined and passed to make the field once again, and it is believed that the Buccaneers’ coaching staff will slowly work him back in.
He may turn out to be a game-changer in the backfield of Tampa Bay, which has not been able to regain momentum without him, and has been left with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker. Irving was the lead running back until he got injured, and he demonstrated dynamic play-making skills and provided the Buccaneers with the much-needed versatility, both as a running player and a receiving player.

Chris Godwin’s Rehab
Wide receiver Chris Godwin was also back in practice Friday and was out several weeks following a fibula injury. The rehab of Godwin has been under close observation due to his history of lower-leg injuries, but according to his rehab sessions lately, he has made a lot of progress. The offensive coordinator, Josh Grizzard, pointed out that one has to pay close attention to the number of snaps of returning players, as it may not be fair to place high workloads on Godwin and Irving right at the start. Nonetheless, news of their imminent arrival is good news to quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs offense as they head towards a must-win NFC game with the Los Angeles Rams.

Both Irving and Godwin are trending in the right direction for Week 12, and should they play this Sunday, the Buccaneers offense will have more firepower for their push toward the postseason. Their comebacks mark a pivotal point for Tampa Bay as the regular season enters its make-or-break season.
