A former linebacker for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles is battling a rare form of cancer that he was diagnosed with in February, per multiple reports.

Per ESPN, Bryan Braman is in a “serious” situation.

“Bryan Braman is undergoing treatment for a rare, aggressive form of cancer, with his longtime agent describing the situation as extremely serious,” the ESPN article states. “Braman, 38, has had multiple surgeries while being treated in Seattle, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help him with expenses.”

The Texans signed Braman as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He joined the Eagles in 2014, and had a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints in 2017 before rejoining Philadelphia to help them win Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots.

Braman played college football at Idaho, Long Beach City College, and West Texas A&M. He appeared in 97 games and recorded 1.5 sacks and 56 tackles. He blocked a punt in the Eagles’ divisional round win over the Atlanta Falcons for the 2017 postseason.

The Super Bowl was Braman’s final game in the NFL.

Per the GoFundMe Page set up for Braman, $53,809 has been donated. Braman’s former teammate in Houston, JJ Watt, is the top donor at $10,000.

Per the GoFundMe Page, Braman needs the funds for a 12-week treatment program.

“(Brauman) is currently fighting a life-threatening cancer that requires an extensive 12-week treatment program located in Seattle, Washington,” the statement on the GFM page reads. “He is required to have a 24-hour caregiver, but his insurance doesn’t pay for housing for this program.

“He has no home currently as he has had to pay out of pocket for much of his treatment, and even sold his last vehicle to raise the money for the motel for this week.”

The goal of the page was to raise a minimum of $15,000, but he could use more funds if you want to give.
