The Cleveland Browns are getting ready to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road for their week six matchup. Cleveland (1-4) is in desperate need for a win with Dillon Gabriel on under center. Pittsburgh (3-1) is looking to distance themselves from the second place team in the AFC North.
However, it would appear Shedeur Sanders got some big news before this contest.
Before the Steelers matchup, the Browns make a major announcement about Shedeur Sanders

Recently, Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns has been in the spotlight. He’s talked about more than your average backup quarterback because of his father being one of the greatest NFL ahletes to ever play the game.
Now, he heard some big news prior to this weekend’s game:
However, after the Browns decided to move on from Joe Flacco, it would make sense if he had an opportunity to get a shot sometime this year. If Dillon Gabriel doesn’t perform at the level he’s expected to, the Browns could go with the next younger option.
According to offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, Sanders has been doing what he’s needed to do in practice, a promising sign.
Sanders has talent, and proved that during his time at Colorado, but the NFL is a different beast, and he has to get up to speed with the other players around him if he wants to be a starter in this league one day.
“For Shedeur, we’re looking for constant improvement throughout the season. He’s done that,” Rees said, per Scott Petrak of The Chronicle Telegram and the Medina Gazette. “I think the level of preparation it takes week to week, when you’re putting in a new gameplan, that’s a learning curve for all rookies. I think he’s gotten more used to that, getting up to speed, doing a nice job with his preparation.

As long as Sanders continues to improve, and Gabriel doesn’t perform at the level the Browns are hoping for, there’s reason to believe he’ll get that chance at some point.
However, it’s also possible that Gabriel will have the keys for the remainder of the season, barring an injury. The Browns have to figure out if they have any sort of competence at the quarterback position, and that’s without factoring in Deshaun Watson potentially coming back this year.
Sanders seems like he has a long way to go, but it’s a good sign that he’s playing well in practice.
