The Cleveland Browns enter the 2025 season with a defense anchored by Myles Garrett, a player widely regarded as one of the top candidates for Defensive Player of the Year. While questions linger about the team’s offensive capabilities, Garrett’s dominance provides a solid foundation for optimism.

Garrett, coming off a season with 14 sacks and 22 tackles for loss, remains the focal point of a defensive line poised to disrupt opposing offenses. His explosive energy at training camp has already set the tone for a unit determined to assert itself as one of the league’s best.

With Garrett leading the charge, the Browns’ defense aims to offset any shortcomings on the offensive side of the ball. The Browns’ offense, however, enters the preseason with considerable uncertainty.

A crowded quarterback competition and a lack of depth in the backfield leave the team searching for consistent production. Despite these challenges, the defense’s ability to pressure quarterbacks and create turnovers could keep Cleveland competitive in tight games.

NFL Analysis Highlights Myles Garrett as Clevelan Browns Big Hope for 2025 Season

Even thought the team’s offense needs to be addressed, Garrett has emerged as Cleveland’s big hope ahead of the 2025 season. This is detailed in an analysis by Alex Ballentine for Bleacher Report.

    Biggest Strength: Defensive Line

Myles Garrett is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. He’s a threat to win Defensive Player of the Year every season he’s on the field. He was tied for fifth in the entire league in total pressures with 69 last season.

Isaiah McGuire’s numbers (two sacks, eight TFL) weren’t great last season, but he did earn the 13th-highest PFF grade among edge-rushers last season.

The interior is losing a lot with Dalvin Tomlinson’s departure, but fifth overall pick Mason Graham could make a difference right away. The Browns’ front four could pave the way for Jim Schwartz’s defense to have a bounce-back season in 2025.

Training camp has showcased Garrett’s leadership and relentless work ethic, inspiring his teammates to elevate their performance. The defense’s cohesion and aggressive play have been highlights, providing hope that the unit can carry the team through difficult stretches. Garrett’s presence alone forces opposing offenses to adjust, creating opportunities for his teammates to thrive.

While the Browns face significant challenges offensively, their defense, led by Garrett, remains a beacon of hope. His ability to dominate games and set the tone defensively gives Cleveland a chance to stay in contention. If the offense can find its rhythm, the Browns could become a formidable team this season, with Garrett at the center of their success.
