This off-season, the Browns signed Jakeem Grant to a three-year deal to be their kick and punt returner. And after having a pretty good training camp, Grant was carted off the field on Tuesday due to an injury.

It was then revealed earlier today that he has a torn Achilles. So, that now means that the Browns are down a receiver and no longer have a kick and a punt returner with him being out for the season.
Jakeem Grant started his career off with the Dolphins, and then he went to the Bears. And when he went to the Bears, he became a solid receiver that could be valuable to a team.
Grant was a Pro Bowl returner for the Bears last season, and he has four punt return touchdowns and two kick return touchdowns in his career that started in 2016.
Grant was going to be mainly a kick and punt returner for the Browns, but he was also impressing many when he was playing at wide receiver in training camp. But, one of the things that really stood out was his speed with coach Kevin Stefanski saying this:
“He is an electric player. He’s fast. Certainly, somebody who we would love to use as we get into the regular season.”
If Grant didn’t get injured during training camp, he undoubtedly would’ve been able to produce for the Browns this season.
This is a really tough situation for Grant and the Browns. And Kevin Stefanski knows that this is an awful thing to happen to Jakeem.
“I really feel awful for Jakeem. We’ve witnessed how hard the young man has worked since he got to our team. We all realize injuries are a part of our game but that doesn’t make it any easier to accept especially for someone that works as hard and carries himself like Jakeem.”
It will be interesting to see if the Browns will get a new receiver to replace Grant. But either way, this is a big loss for the Browns’ offense.
