The Cleveland Browns are finding out even more troubling news regarding their team. Just days before training camp kicks off, one of their six-year veterans is going through some troubling legal issues. This isn’t the first legal situation the team has been dealing with this off-season.
Breaking: Browns See 6-Year Veteran Arraigned For Domestic Assault (Report)
On Friday, Browns linebacker Devin Bush was formally arraigned in Allegheny County (Pa.) Common Pleas Court on charges related to an alleged assault on his girlfriend:
A pre-trial hearing was set for Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.
Bush is facing charges of simple assault, a second degree misdemeanor, as well as a summary offense of harassment.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by 3News, the victim told dispatchers that Bush, her boyfriend, assaulted her and took her car keys before leaving the residence in Sewickley, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
Officers arrived to find the victim had gone to a neighbor’s home. As they began speaking with her, Bush returned to the residence and was told to wait at the property.
The report states that the victim told police that the argument began that morning over one of Bush’s friends and escalated over a mess in the kitchen. She told officers that Bush became more aggressive, prompting her to start recording the argument on her phone.
Bush reportedly noticed he was being recorded and chased her through the house.
The report notes that the woman said Bush allegedly pinned her against a massage table in the office and used his full body weight to take the phone.
She told officers that Bush then smashed the phone and searched for her iPad to prevent her from contacting anyone.
The victim was able to escape with her daughter to a nearby neighbor’s home. Officers observed visible injuries, including a cut on her right wrist and an abrasion near her pinky toe, which she said were caused by the incident.
The criminal complaint also noted that Bush admitted to smashing the phone, but denied getting physical with the victim.
According to Allegheny County court records, Bush was taken into custody on Sunday, May 4, by the Bell Acres Police Department.
Following the arrest, a Browns spokesman told The Associated Press in a text message that the team is “aware and gathering more information.”
Bush joined the Browns in 2024 and recorded 76 tackles while appearing in 16 games last season.
He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 with the 10th overall pick and played there through the 2022 season. After a year with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023, he signed with Cleveland. Bush played college football at the University of Michigan.
