Brock Purdy’s performance with the San Francisco 49ers, while pretty impressive, also has several loopholes according to NBA analyst, Jason McIntyre. McIntyre appeared on ‘The Herd’ this Wednesday and discussed Purdy’s manner of play, especially when he is not leading in the fourth quarter. According to McIntyre, the 25-year-old quarterback does not do well when he is trailing in the fourth quarter.
Purdy recently bagged a massive contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers for a whopping $265 million with $81 million guaranteed. The deal made the player one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
“Brock Purdy when tied or trailing in the second half, not good. It’s not just last season. There’s a theme here…. Folks, when facing a big deficit in his career…… he hasn’t been great. So, he has had some great comebacks. But by and large, Brock Purdy is great on the script, and when that wears off, it don’t look good.” Jason McIntyre discussed Brock Purdy’s stats on Wednesday’s episode of ‘The Herd’.
Brock Purdy has been playing for the San Francisco 49ers since 2022 after being selected as the last player in the seventh round of the NFL draft. Before being drafted, Purdy played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones. Despite being labeled ‘Irrelevant’, Purdy quickly managed to rise up to become one of the best players in the San Francisco 49ers roster.
However, Purdy’s performance in the 2024 NFL season was not that great with the quarterback throwing for 3,864 yards, scoring 20 touchdowns, while managing 12 interceptions for the team. In contrast, the quarterback passed for an impressive 4,280 yards in the 2023 NFL season with the 49ers.

Brock Purdy And 49ers To Open Season With Seattle Seahawks Matchup In Week 1
Meanwhile, Brock Purdy will be working hard with the San Francisco 49ers to make sure that the team finishes with a bang in the upcoming NFL season. The 49ers are all set to open their 2025 NFL season by locking horns with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. Before that, the team will be getting ready with three preseason games, against the Denver Broncos, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

The last time the 49ers faced the Seattle Seahawks, they lost with an embarrassing 20-17 final score. In that game, Purdy managed to score once with 21 pass completions out of 28 attempts. The team will be eager to do better this time out, and Purdy will be prepped and ready for that.
