Brock Purdy’s contract extension deal with the San Francisco 49ers has still not been concluded, despite the 2025 NFL draft getting over and tight-end George Kittle getting his bag from the team. Purdy, the 25-year-old quarterback for the 49ers, is asking for $50 million in his new deal, and the team has maintained its stance that it will be too difficult for them to do so.
In a recent appearance on the ‘Up & Adams’ show, retired NFL cornerback Patrick Peterson, was asked about Brock Purdy’s demands and whether they are justified. Peterson admitted feeling that in no way was Purdy eligible for $50 million. But, he also confessed that quarterbacks are demanding more and more money and that the amount might be the current rate in the market.
“Honestly, no. But you know what these quarterbacks are going for right now, that’s kind of like the going rate,” Patrick Peterson said about Brock Purdy asking $50 million on the ‘Up & Adams’ show.

Brock Purdy joined the team back in 2022 after the San Francisco 49ers selected him as the 262nd pick of the seventh round. Despite being one of the last players to be drafted, Purdy quickly rose to become a formidable force in the team. In the 2024 NFL season, quarterback Purdy threw for a total of 3,864 yards, scoring 20 touchdowns, while managing 12 interceptions for the team.

Brock Purdy’s Teammate Gets Whopping Contract Extension Deal
Meanwhile, Brock Purdy’s teammate, George Kittle, who is a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, got exactly what he asked for. Kittle recently signed a four-year contract extension with the 49ers for a sum of $76.4 million. The amount makes Kittle the highest-paid tight end in the history of the league.

Perhaps Kittle getting a whopping sum like this might look like positive news for Purdy, as the team seems more than ready to loosen their purse strings. A couple of months before, it was reported that the 49ers admitted to having to make many sacrifices in order to satisfy Purdy’s demands. However, things look a little different right now.

Before joining the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL, Brock Purdy played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2018 to 2021. The young quarterback was crowned NFL passer rating leader in the 2023 NFL season and has appeared in one Pro Bowl. In his NFL career until date, Purdy has completed 722 passes in total, scoring 64 touchdowns so far.
