Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, is still awaiting a decision from the team regarding his contract extension. With Purdy and pretty much the rest of the NFL world holding their breath to hear the 49ers decision on their quarterback, NFL journalist Ian Rapoport weighed in on exactly this on a recent episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.

Purdy has been with the San Francisco 49ers since 2022 after being selected by the team as the 262nd pick in the seventh round of the NFL draft. Before his time in the league, the 25-year-old quarterback played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2018 to 2021. In the 2024 NFL season, Purdy threw for a total of 3,864 yards, scoring 20 touchdowns, while managing 12 interceptions.

“I’ve not gotten the sense that it’ll get done soon, but it does at least seem like it’s going in the right direction. Kittle’s deal was sort of a little bit quicker. They got the Fred Warner deal. Quarterback deals usually take longer. We’ll see if they get that good landing spot somewhere in the 50s to get Brock Purdy locked in long term. Is he going to sign right before training camp? And then if he doesn’t, it’s like, he’ll hold in a lot of times. It’s sort of training camp deadline. That’s kind of the next thing.” Ian Rapoport said about Brock Purdy’s contract on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.

The San Francisco 49ers are known to be slow in making decisions. As a result, their decision about tight end George Kittle’s contract came as a surprise for many. Last week, Kittle became the highest-paid tight end in NFL history after the 49ers gave him a four-year contract extension for a sum of $76.4 million.

Brock Purdy’s Contract Decisions Are Going Positively According To John Lynch

Ian Rapoport is not the only one who expects positive things in terms of Brock Purdy’s contract. Recently, San Francisco 49ers general manager, John Lynch, discussed Purdy’s contract extension on Chris Simms’ podcast and stated that the negotiations are going positively.

However, Lynch also mentioned that he definitely did not know as to when the contract negotiations will be completed. Whatever the situation may be, Brock Purdy seems confident of getting his bag from the 49ers. The young quarterback has been regularly attending the Offseason Team Activities with the rest of his teammates. Purdy was also seen playing golf at a recent team engagement outing with 4ers players and coaching staff.
