Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are struggling this season, and are currently at the bottom of the NFC West table with a 5-7 record. This season, the 49ers are heavily leaning on 24-year-old Purdy’s talents. The quarterback is boasting 2,707 yards this season, with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
It is clear that Purdy is not working well for the San Francisco 49ers, and this thought seems to resonate with NFL analyst Nick Wright. Wright discussed this topic on Fox Sport 1’s First Things First, where he went on to say that the team needs to get rid of Purdy fast. Additionally, the team has an offense which is getting quite old and needs to strategize accordingly.
“I think it is far more fair and far more instructive for the Niners to judge Brock Purdy off this season than last season, when you’re projecting forward… I think it would be doing your franchise a disservice if you’re the Niners, if you are not quietly having meetings… I just think it is going to be a part of the Niners off season discussions, ‘if this continues, do we reset the quarterback clock without having the mortgage draft capital?'”
“Because the other thing is, the offense is getting old… So does having a $60 million quarterback that you’re maybe not 100% sure is a force multiplier makes sense if you’re kind of rebooting the offense? I think the Niners drafting a quarterback is absolutely on the board if they end up with the top 10 pick.” Nick Wright said on First Things First.
In their most recent game, the San Francisco 49ers played the Buffalo Bills and lost with a final score of 35-10. In that game, QB Brock Purdy attempted 18 passes and completed 11 for a total of 94 yards. Jordan Mason led the team’s rushing with 13 carries for 78 yards, while Jauan Jennings took care of the defense with a trio of receptions for 56 yards.
Brock Purdy Is Still Positive About 49ers Before Game Against Chicago
On another note, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is seeing only positive things for the team before their next game against the Chicago Bears. It is true that the San Francisco 49ers have not had much luck this season, with the team managing to win only five games so far.
While speaking to reporters as shared on NBC Sports Bay Area, the quarterback went on to say that he sees adversity as nothing but a challenge for the team. This is the first time the two teams will butt heads this season, with the 4ers riding a losing streak, and the Bears coming off a loss against the Detroit Lions.
