The San Francisco 49ers (5-5) held their first practice of the week on Wednesday. The injury update on quarterback Brock Purdy isn’t great for Sunday’s matchup with the Green Bay Packers (7-3).
Purdy suffered a shoulder injury (right-throwing side) during the 49ers’ 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11. Purdy didn’t play well in the loss, going 21-of-28 for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Brock Purdy has had an off year
The third-year quarterback has had a down year overall, throwing for 2,613, 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions for a team that is tied with the Los Angeles Chargers and Seahawks for last place in the NFC West.
Sunday’s matchup is important for the 49ers, as they face the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. They could be looking at 5-7 before playing the Chicago Bears on Dec. 8.
Purdy did not throw a pass at San Francisco 49ers practice
Purdy’s arm might not be the reason the 49ers defeat the Packers on Sunday. Per Grant Cohn with Sports Illustrated, the No. 262 pick in the 2022 draft out of Iowa State did not throw passes in practice on Wednesday. Per the injury report, he was a limited participant.

Fortunately for the 49ers, the offense has had running back Christian McCaffrey back for their last two games after he missed the start of the season for Achilles issues.
The 49ers have Brandon Allen and Joshua Dobbs as backup quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Neither has thrown a pass for San Francisco in 2024.
