Per a report by Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the league is punishing a Houston Texans undrafted rookie free agent for a tackle they made on a kickoff play in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Texans would go on to win the game 29-27.
The league didn’t care too much about another investigation
While the league quickly investigated and cleared the San Francisco 49ers for potentially cheating on the injury report, the NFL will not be as lenient with players on Saturday. The league will issue fines for infractions players made on the field in Week 1.
The NFL is fining Houston Texans rookie British Brooks
Per Wilson, the league is fining running back British Brooks for a tackle he made against the Colts on Sunday. The league is claiming Brooks illegally lowered his head on the tackle. Brooks intends to appeal the league’s fine.
Here’s a video of the tackle Brooks made in Week 1.

The fine is a substantial amount of money for the undrafted rookie out of North Carolina.
Per Sportrac, Brooks signed a three-year deal with the Texans worth $2,845,000. His average annual salary is $948, 333.
Fans react to the fine
NFL fans reacted to the report of Brooks’ fine on social media. Most think the league is going too far with the fine.

So the hit was legal… but he’s being fined for it? How does that even work

This is the worst of the NFL. Fining a player for a legal hit after the fact. It makes no sense…period.
