Brian Kelly held a press conference this afternoon previewing LSU’s season opener against Florida State. The new season for LSU still comes with question marks of who will be named the starting quarterback for the battle in New Orleans against the Seminoles. Here is what first-year head coach Brian Kelly said about what is in store for the week ahead for the purple and gold:
On Florida State’s Defensive Line:

“They’re not a group that’s getting moved off the football. They’ve lost some talented edge players, but I would say that it starts inside out, which allows the linebackers to run.”
On Neutral Site Games:

“I think it’s important to look at New Orleans as a site because of our fanbase, I think we need to look at areas with strong fanbases. I did them quite regularly where I was last year. You don’t have to decide to give up a Tiger Stadium game, which is a hard thing to do. But I think going to New Orleans certainly makes sense to me.”
His Familiarity with Facing Florida State:

“Playing against a team I’m quite familiar with, we opened up with them last year. Jordan Travis is a great competitor, can make things happen. What we saw on Saturday is 406 yards rushing and that certainly gets your attention.”
On Malik Nabers:

“He should be good, tomorrow he will begin drill work. He had an ankle sprain, he will be cleared to practice.”
Update on the Starting QB Battle:
“We’ve made a decision, but I’m not going to announce it publicly. Certainly, everyone wants to know who the quarterback is, I know that, but I think it gives us a tactical advantage. Florida State played a game, that’s an advantage for them.”
