Brett Favre, came out in support of Trevor Lawrence, after the QB was recently injured in the game against the Houston Texans last week. The injury was shocking, with coaches, fans and reporters immediately terming it a ‘dirty play’ by Houston’s linebacker, Azeez Al-Shaair. Many fans also took to social media to wish Lawrence a speedy recovery, including former quarterback Brett Favre.
While the play was indeed a dishonest move, Shaair immediately posted on the social media platform, X that he never meant any harm for Lawrence. Shaair also went on to say that he spoke with Lawrence right before the game and that he was happy to see him back on the field.
“Brutal hit. I wish Trevor a speedy recovery,” Favre tweeted on X.
While this wish from Brett Favre is certainly sweet, Lawrence’s return to play will not be any time soon and will be conducted under a stringent protocol. The quarterback will be analyzed by the NFL’s own Head, Neck and Spine Committee who will perform various assessments before they deem him ready to play again.
In place of Trevor Lawrence, Mac Jones will play as quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lawrence’s last proper appearance on the field was against the Philadelphia Eagles where the QB went for 169 yards, completing 16 passes out of 31, while managing a pair of interceptions.Brett Favre Discusses How Parkinson’s Changed His Life
Brett Favre, who played 20 seasons with the NFL, mainly with the Green Bay Packers, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease earlier this year, and publicly announced it in September. In an interview with TMZ, Favre spoke about his diagnosis and how the condition has changed his life and his priorities.
Favre remarked that he was fortunate that they managed to catch his diagnosis quite early. Parkinson’s, which is known for tremors and coordination issues, is quite progressive with no current cure being found for the condition.
Favre mentioned that he does not experience many ‘shakes’ as long as he takes the right medication. The 55-year-old also went on to say that he does not want to take medication for the next 30-40 years, as long as he lives, but is also accepting of the fact that ‘it is what it is’. Favre also pointed out the rigidity that he struggles with, especially in the morning when he feels ‘like a board’. The former athlete also went on to say that he is indeed a ‘blessed man’.
