It is no secret that former Green Bay Packers quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre is a huge supporter of former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Throughout the course of the last few years, Favre, who also played for the Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings, has done several media appearances in which he has praised Trump while criticizing Democratic politicians.
The NFL, of course, is apolitical in that it does not endorse any specific candidates for office. While individual players and coaches may make statements endorsing one candidate or another (like San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa did when he donned a MAGA hat during Brock Purdy’s postgame interview last week), the league itself does not officially lean to either side politically.
This stance, and what it can mean for fans sitting in the front row and, therefore, being shown on television, came to a head on Sunday during the Buffalo Bills game against the Miami Dolphins.
Brett Favre Calls Out the Buffalo Bills and NFL for Asking a Fan to Change His Donald Trump Shirt

Prior to the Bills-Dolphins game, a video went viral on social media of stadium security telling a fan wearing a Trump ’24 shirt that he either needed to change it or move his seat. Favre reposted the video along with a criticism of the Bills and NFL for not allowing the fan to keep the shirt on while remaining in his seat:
.@BuffaloBills @NFL please address this bullshit.
We live in America. Don’t ban clothing because you hate the greatest movement in political history.

The caption of the post read, “Buffalo Bills, NFL, please address this bull—-. We live in America. Don’t ban clothing because you hate the greatest movement in political history.”
As can be seen in the video, the security guard tells the fan that the policy is not directed at Trump attire, but at any political attire.
