Bill Belichick confirmed that he is done with the NFL, but a new report says something very different. Looks like, despite his current gig at North Carolina, the legendary coach is back on the radar again.

NFL insider Josina Anderson reports that at least two NFL teams are still expected to have interest in talking to Belichick behind the scenes.
This new detail is, quite frankly, very surprising because a few days ago fans thought Belichick was the correct choice for the Giants after they fired their HC, but he was reportedly never on their radar.
Bill Belichick Approaching Multiple Head Coach Opportunities
Anderson said at least two franchises want to speak with the 73-year-old legendary coach this carousel season. A third franchise could join the mix if ownership makes a key personnel change.
“I’m told ‘at least two NFL teams’ are still expected to have interest in talking to Bill Belichick, behind-the-scenes at the very least, about head coach jobs this Carousel season, per a league source,” Anderson reported via X.

The timing seems wild considering Belichick just wrapped his first season at Chapel Hill. With a 4-7 record under his watch, they are already out of bowl eligibility. So, UNC does not have an exact championship pedigree. In that case, the debut season is over for Belichick and his college team.
However, he publicly stated he has not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies following Brian Daboll’s Giants firing. He insisted his commitment to UNC hasn’t wavered.
But Anderson’s intel suggests teams aren’t buying the Chapel Hill forever narrative. The Giants and Jets aren’t in play despite the obvious connections. That leaves the field wide open for dark horse candidates.
Belichick’s contract has several outs that are adding to the speculation. His buyout falls to just $1 million after the 2025 season, which is a small price for any NFL owner looking to hire a coach with six Super Bowl rings.Select 59 more words to run Humanizer.
Why Belichick Avoided NFL Jobs Last Cycle
Anderson dropped another nugget that explains the 2024 hiring freeze.
“There’s more to the story of why Belichick did not end up head coaching another NFL team a couple seasons ago — with his own desires and preferences regarding workplace dynamics playing more into a part of it,” she revealed.
The Falcons brought him in for interviews and owner Arthur Blank seemed interested initially, but things fell apart once team executives got deeper into conversations. Belichick wanted to bring his Patriots crew. Meanwhile, Atlanta wanted collaboration, not someone taking over everything.
“At any rate, Belichick still has deep respect from a number of owners across the league, and that is what matters,” Anderson added.
The Titans fired Brian Callahan and need a cultural reset, as well. Belichick’s experience lines up with their rebuild around rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
Whether Belichick bolts remains unclear, but two franchises believe he’s worth the conversation. And in the NFL, conversations become contracts quickly.
