The Texas Longhorns defeated the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday night 56-7. In the game despite the blowout, there was some drama. Quinn Ewers suffered an injury in the first half and Arch Manning came into the game in relief.

Manning dominated the competition in the win. For the time being, he will be the starting quarterback because Ewers is out week-to-week and there is no timetable for his return. Arch Manning is only a redshirt freshman and was impressive.
Texas Longhorns Quarterback Arch Manning Was Named CO-Freshman Player Of The Week in the SEC Conference

Week 3 of the 2024 college football season has concluded and there were many storylines. On Monday, the SEC announced its awards for the week. Freshman quarterback Manning shared the award with Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. The SEC website said about Arch Manning being co-freshman of the week:
“Arch Manning stepped up in Texas’s 56-7 win over UTSA after an injury to Quinn Ewers, completing 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, and rushing for a 67-yard touchdown. His four touchdown passes, tied for 10th all-time on UT’s single-game list, included a 75-yard strike to Ryan Wingo—the seventh-longest by a UT freshman. Manning’s 67-yard rushing TD was the longest by a UT quarterback since Vince Young’s 80-yard run in 2005. Manning is the fifth SEC freshman QB in the last 15 years to have a 65+ yard touchdown run. He averaged 39.3 yards per passing TD and became the first UT quarterback since Casey Thompson in 2021 to account for five or more touchdowns in a game.”
This may not be the last time this season that Manning will be the co-freshman of the week in the SEC Conference. He will get the start again this week against UL-Monroe and could get more starts depending on how long Quinn Ewers is out.
Fans React

There were some interesting reactions on the SEC Twitter page when Manning was announced as co-freshman of the week:
This is a joke right?!!! Arch beat up on a UTSA team.
Caden Durham save LSU’s ass with 3 tds and 100 yards rushing against an SEC DEFENSE that is VERY GOOD.
You all need to correct this.

People may seem to be jealous that the Longhorns have a Manning on the roster. He is a very talented quarterback who will continue to make a name for himself this season and for years to come. Arch Manning could be the most polarizing player in college football entering Week 4 of the college football season.
